World of Hyatt's Up-to-75k Offer Ends Aug. 20: Should You Apply?

Hyatt and Chase currently say the World of Hyatt Credit Card's up-to-75,000-point offer ends Aug. 20, 2026. The headline is not 75k of incremental welcome value: the first 45k is a clear bonus, while the second tier includes points the spending would earn anyway. The decision should turn on the $5,000 initial requirement, the opportunity cost of additional spend and whether the annual Category 1–4 award fits your travel.

Why 75k is better understood as 45k plus up to 15k extra

Chase's arithmetic is accurate: 45,000 points from the first tier plus 30,000 total points from up to $15,000 of eligible 2x spending equals 75,000 points.

For comparison, however, that $15,000 would ordinarily earn 15,000 base points. The promotion adds only one more point per dollar, making the incremental welcome value 45k plus up to 15k extra. There is no reason to force the full second tier simply to reach the marketed number.

The opportunity cost of the second tier

Maxing the second tier requires as much as $15,000 of purchases that would normally earn 1x. You gain 15,000 Hyatt points above the base return, but may give up 2% cash back, 2x transferable points or category bonuses elsewhere.

The temporary 2x applies only to purchases that normally earn 1x. Hyatt, dining, airfare bought directly from airlines and other existing bonus categories should not be counted as though they receive the same extra tier again.

Long-term value matters more than the deadline

  • Receive a Category 1–4 award after each account anniversary. A stay you would otherwise pay more than $95 for can offset the fee.
  • Spend $15,000 in a calendar year for another Category 1–4 award, but compare the threshold with other cards' rewards.
  • Cardholders receive Discoverist and five qualifying nights annually, plus two qualifying nights for each $5,000 spent.
  • The card earns 4x on eligible Hyatt spend. Chase's up-to-9x figure also includes normal World of Hyatt member base points.
  • Point value varies by property, category, date and cash rate; no online valuation is guaranteed.

Pre-application checklist

  • Open the official Chase or Hyatt page and confirm the up-to-75k offer is still displayed.
  • Confirm you do not currently have the product and did not receive its new-cardmember bonus in the past 24 months.
  • Map the $5,000 first-tier requirement to normal spending without carrying a balance.
  • Review recent accounts and consider Chase's commonly reported 5/24 practice.
  • Save the offer terms, spending dates and application reference number.
  • If approved, set reminders for both the three-month and six-month deadlines.

Frequently asked questions

What time does the offer end?

Hyatt's public page says Aug. 20, 2026, but does not state one universal cutoff time on the main landing page. Do not wait until the last hours, and rely on the offer displayed when you apply.

Is this a net 75k welcome bonus?

No. The first 45k is a bonus. The second 30k consists of total earnings on $15,000 of normally 1x purchases; 15k would be base earnings, so the promotional uplift is up to 15k.

Must I spend the full $15,000?

No. Complete the $5,000 first tier if it fits, then use the second tier only when normal spending and opportunity cost make sense.

What is the annual fee?

$95, not waived the first year.

Who is ineligible for the current offer?

Chase currently says the product is unavailable to current cardmembers and to previous cardmembers who received its new-cardmember bonus within the past 24 months. Read the terms shown on your application.

Summary

The strongest case is the 45k first tier attached to a useful $95 hotel card—not the 75k headline. Apply by Aug. 20 only if the $5,000 requirement fits ordinary spending and you can use Hyatt's annual Category 1–4 award. A deadline is not a reason to take a card that misses your travel pattern.
