Chase Sapphire Preferred Review: 100K Limited-Time Offer

BOTTOM LINE

CSP remains a practical mid-tier travel card: transferable UR points, useful 3x categories, travel protection and a $100 Chase Travel hotel credit for a $95 annual fee. The 2026 change to 4:3 Hyatt transfers for new accounts materially changes its traditional value proposition.

As of August 2, 2026, Chase's public page displays a limited-time 100,000-point offer after $5,000 in purchases in the first three months and says it ends soon. Save the exact offer and eligibility language shown in your application.

What changed in 2026

  • $100 Chase Travel hotel credit: up from $50; the credited first $100 does not earn points.
  • New 3x categories: gas stations, EV charging and vacation homes at select brands.
  • Up to $120 Trusted Traveler credit: once every four years.
  • The 10% anniversary bonus ended: it is no longer a current benefit.
  • Hyatt transfers changed to 4:3: relevant accounts opened on or after June 15, 2026 receive 750 Hyatt points for 1,000 UR; earlier accounts should check transition terms.

Using Ultimate Rewards

UR can be redeemed for cash, gift cards, Chase Travel or transfers. Most participating travel partners remain 1:1, including United, Aeroplan, Flying Blue, Virgin Atlantic, Southwest, IHG, Marriott and Wyndham. World of Hyatt is the important 4:3 exception for new accounts.

Chase Travel now uses rotating Points Boost offers, with select flights or hotels worth up to about 1.5x—not the former flat 1.25 cents for all portal travel.

Travel protections

Chase lists primary auto rental coverage for most eligible vehicles, trip cancellation/interruption, trip delay after more than 12 hours or an overnight stay, baggage delay, lost luggage and purchase protection. Coverage limits, exclusions, documentation and payment requirements in the Guide to Benefits control.

Before you apply

  1. Confirm the page still displays 100,000 points and the $5,000/three-month requirement.
  2. You cannot apply while this card is open; prior card ownership or a prior bonus may affect eligibility.
  3. Chase may consider how many cards you have opened and closed; unofficial 5/24 guidance is not an approval guarantee.
  4. New-account Hyatt transfers are 4:3. Recalculate if Hyatt is your main reason for applying.
  5. The $100 hotel credit requires Chase Travel, and the credited portion earns no points.
  6. Points Boost is not a guaranteed 1.5 cents on every itinerary.
  7. Do not overspend for the bonus, and note that the $95 annual fee does not count toward required purchases.

Drawbacks

  • $95 annual fee: use the credit, transfers or protections to justify it.
  • Weaker Hyatt transfers: 4:3 reduces a historically important use case.
  • Portal dependence: the hotel credit and 5x require Chase Travel.
  • No flat 1.25-cent portal value: Points Boost varies.

Frequently asked questions

What is the annual fee?

$95, not waived the first year.

What is the current welcome offer?

As of August 2, 2026, Chase's public page displays 100,000 points after $5,000 in purchases in the first three months and labels it as ending soon. Offers can change.

Do UR points still transfer 1:1 to Hyatt?

For relevant accounts opened on or after June 15, 2026, Chase currently lists World of Hyatt transfers at 4:3. Earlier accounts should check the transition terms and their account; most other partners remain 1:1.

How does the $100 hotel credit work?

Each account anniversary year, eligible Chase Travel hotel purchases trigger up to $100 in automatic statement credits. The credited portion does not earn points.

Does the card charge foreign transaction fees?

No.

Bottom line

If you can meet $5,000 in normal spending and use airline transfers and travel protection, the current 100K offer is compelling. Long-term value depends on using the $100 hotel credit and accepting the new Hyatt and Points Boost economics.
