Chase Ink Business Cash vs. Unlimited: $1,000 Offers and Which Card Fits

Small-business owner reviewing receipts and blank payment cards

At month-end, a freelancer spreads software invoices, phone bills and equipment receipts across the desk. An $8,000 spending requirement looks manageable, but two no-annual-fee Chase Ink cards offering the same $1,000 bonus reward very different purchases. The right choice begins with where those expenses already go.

What the two $1,000 offers require

Chase currently labels both public offers as its best ever: earn $1,000 after $8,000 in purchases within four months. Both cards have no annual fee. Cash back is tracked as Ultimate Rewards points, with 100 points redeemable for $1.

The public pages do not show a fixed deadline. Confirm the live application page. The threshold averages $2,000 per month, so use inventory, software, insurance or equipment you already planned to buy rather than manufacturing spend.

Ink Business Cash rewards defined business categories

Each account anniversary year, Ink Business Cash earns 5% on the first $25,000 combined at office-supply stores and on internet, cable and phone services; it earns 2% on the first $25,000 combined at restaurants and gas stations, then 1% elsewhere.

Merchant coding matters. Office supplies bought from a general retailer may not code as an office-supply store, while cloud hosting and digital advertising are not listed 5% categories.

Ink Business Unlimited keeps rewards simple

Ink Business Unlimited earns 1.5% on every eligible purchase without categories to track. That can fit consultants, contractors and online businesses whose expenses do not fall into Cash's bonus buckets.

If $20,000 lands in Cash's 5% category, Cash can beat Unlimited by roughly $700. If the same amount is all ordinary spend, Unlimited leads by about $100.

Use the 0% APR with a payoff plan

Both cards currently offer 0% introductory APR on purchases for 12 months, followed by a variable APR. Minimum payments remain due, and any balance left after the promotion begins accruing interest at the applicable rate.

Build a month-by-month payoff schedule on day one. A bonus and temporary 0% rate do not justify equipment the business does not need.

Eligibility and opportunity cost

  • Chase says a bonus may be unavailable if you have had this card or another no-annual-fee Chase for Business card; follow the live application message.
  • A legitimate sole proprietorship, freelance practice or side business may qualify, but all application details must be accurate.
  • Chase business-card approvals are commonly affected by 5/24, while an approved business account generally does not add a new personal account to a consumer credit report.
  • Compare the application with other Chase bonuses and your broader application order.

Frequently asked questions

When do the $1,000 offers end?

The public pages show no fixed deadline. Offers can change, so rely on the application page you submit.

Can a sole proprietor apply?

Potentially yes. Freelance and side-business activity may qualify, but provide accurate information and Chase makes the decision.

Can spending be combined across both cards?

No. Each account must meet its own spending requirement.

Are payments required during 0% APR?

Yes. At least the minimum payment is due, and paying the balance before the promotional period ends is safer.

How to choose

  • Heavy office and telecom spendInk Business Cash can lead with 5% back on qualifying categories, up to its annual cap.
  • Scattered expensesInk Business Unlimited's flat 1.5% is simpler and often stronger outside bonus categories.
  • Spending only to earn the bonusSkip it. Map four months of real business purchases and pay every statement on time.

List four months of real business purchases by category. Cash tends to win on office and telecom spend; Unlimited is easier for scattered expenses. Do not create purchases for the offer or confuse 0% APR with no repayment obligation.
